London - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - International

I'd probably be dishing out a full five stars here if it wasn't for the attitude problem of most of the staff that work here, maybe they don't like getting up at the crack of dawn on Sunday? I don't either actually, but when tempted with such delights as the ricotta pancakes, grape and stone fruit compote lathered with creme fraiche, I can make an exception. Stupidly enough, I didn't actually order them because I was feeling guilty after munching through not one, but two full English breakfast in the previous two days. I took a fruit salad. It did happen to be delicious and all the fruit was perfectly ripened, but maybe a touch over the top at 6 pounds something. Expect breakfast for two to come in at around 25 quid.

The decor is bright and airy, and reminds me of The Garrison somewhat, a favourite of mine. I think I'll come back, order the pancakes, and be very happy.

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Fastfood & Takeaway - Soup

The tomato soup in Souperia really is out of this world. It's most definitely not from a can, loads of lovely bits of tomato still recongisable, and a huge dollop of crème fraîche makes for a nice lunch, especially on a hangover. It's not open in the evenings, so Saturday is my only opportunity to go. I may do that tomorrow!

How have I not reviewed Gaby's Deli?! In the dark days of our Leicester Square office this place was an oasis of delicious hot salty beef love at lunchtime. I think I once had a Gaby's everyday for a week, it's that nice. Generous portions, decent fresh orange from a hilariously small machine that takes hours to make, and not that pricey.

I love it.

OK, I haven't been here for 5 years, so you could take my review with a pinch of salt, apart from the fact that Nay says it still rubbish. This place used to be called the "Goose at Hatton Garden" and was a really bad pub then. Pretty cheap considering its proximity to the city, but that was its only redeeming feature.

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Nightlife - Karaoke

The mark of a really quality night out in St. Pauli would probably be either finishing, or starting, or stopping at Thai Oase. A frightening mix of wildy varying tracks and talent, I've seen particularly memorable renditions of "Don't let the sun go down on me" and EMF's "Unbelievable" take the crowd by storm. Get there early, and more importantly, write your songs down early, otherwise you'll be waiting forever! Classic.

Why has nobody ever reviewed Rosi's Bar in English? Could it be because whenever the English end up this far into a St. Pauli weekender they can no longer differentiate between any of the bars on Hamburgerberg?! I suspect so.

Anyway, Rosi's trivia: the girl with the dreads from Zoe 2 DJ's here at the weekends sometimes.

It's always packed Thursday till Sunday morning.

It doesn't look anything like the photo, cause you have to imagine the mass of people sprawled on the pavement. All good fun, and probably better than the Reeperbahn...

I AM LITERALLY GOING TO KILL MYSELF WITH RAWK AND ROLL!

Yes, King Calavera is full of people wearing just a little too much eyeshadow and sporting DM's they didn't throw away 15 years ago. The music is loud, and I imagine it's cheap, although since it's so loud you can't really hear how much the drinks are.

Well a go, if you like that sort of thing... I prefer Lunacy.

A little known fact: Zoe Bar is cheaper to drink at than Zoe 2! Makes you wonder... is Zoe 3 even more pricey? I will find this out, dear Qypeonauts, and tell you.

What has been said before is true, although post-makeover it's slightly less dirty than before, and has particularly clean tables... Zoe is generally not a busy place, and doesn't have the same crowd as Zoe 2.

A word of warning: the staff here are the kind you might dream about.

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Shisha

If you like unpretentious, relaxed, comfy outdoor shisha, then you could do a lot worse than the Astro Cafe. It looks worse from the outside, but is head and shoulders above the likes of 1001 nights. Good on summer evenings as the sun goes down.

I think superchristine sums it up really. It is a great place for mid-30's single smokers who like to grind! It's not a great place (esp. upstairs) if you don't smoke, because you won't be able to enter without breathing equipment, and I don't even mind smoking! On a par with mutter there.

On the plus side, it does have a nice BBQ and beer garden out back, and it's a bit off the beaten track, still, I don't really go here anymore.

Paris - Hotels & Holidays - Hotels

If you paid the full list price (€450/night!) for this hotel, you'd feel a tad ripped off. However, at the discounted €120 rate, it's a great spot. I can't heap anything but praise on the establishment, particularly because of the fantastic decor and minimalist, but not overly so, furniture. I really felt like I could take some tips for my own place, which to be honest you can rarely say about a hotel...

If you can get room 503, it's got a huge bed, and a great balcony!
