Qype: Daniela Bar in Hamburg

Bored on Sunday night and want to drink till 4am with loads of old people instead of thinking about work? Here's your venue!

Qype: Makrele - Bar in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Bistros - Nightlife - Music Venues - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Cocktail Bars - Eating & Drinking - Cafes & Coffee Shops - Internet Cafes

I really like Makrele, from the labradors, the kicker, down to the office feel and very attractive bar staff. They sometimes do live acoustic gigs in here too. Well worth a look both in the day and by night.

Qype: Bar 99 Cent in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Cocktail Bars

I'm not sure it IS the best price/quality ratio in town, since just a few streets away Lucky Star is churning out shots for 50c, so you can feel ripped off here. However, if you can get over that kind of shot-extorsion, it's not bad for a trip into the wild west of Hamburg on Fridays.

Check out my review of Bar 99 Cent - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Roschinsky's in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

Pretty much all bars on Hamburger Berg are the same, and Roschinsky's is no exception to that! Packed to the rafters every Thursday till Sunday, lots of drunks, students, and sweating people jumping up and down. Good stuff.

Check out my review of Roschinsky's - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: LayBack Bar & Lounge in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Cocktail Bars - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Lounges

You shouldn't really mark places down because you don't live anywhere near them, but I sort of am doing that now. I wouldn't really come out down Lange Reihe unless I also wanted to see my doctor, and he says it's OK to drink as much as you want and smoke 10 a day, so I never need to see him.

The cocktails are pretty good.

Check out my review of LayBack Bar & Lounge - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: erste Liebe Bar in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Bistros

Maybe I just dreamt that I already reviewed here. Decent location in a nice square by the canal, and popular. The downside is the sometimes painfully slow service, and I've never been overwhelmed by the pasta. I would recommend Rialto, which is just next door. It is stylish though.

Check out my review of erste Liebe Bar - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Bar Centrale in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

Pretty decent choice if you want to watch the football locally. I mean, locally to me, anyway. It's just opposite the very famous "Luba Luft", so you can spot here on your way. I have yet to try the full english, but, I might tomorrow!

Check out my review of Bar Centrale - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: BP 1 in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

BP1, or Bar Projekt Einz is an unbelievably small and narrow bar in prime territory on the main drag of Schulterblatt. Great in summer when everyone is sitting outside and checking everybody else out. I think they even squeeze a DJ booth in.

Check out my review of BP 1 - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Lokal Mangold in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - German

Nice place for a schnitzel in the Caroviertel just on the little square there. The service is always friendly, and if I didn't live next to Ericka's Eck, this might fit all my schnitzel needs.

Check out my review of Lokal Mangold - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Hafenbahnhof in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

I have definitely reviewed the Hafenbahnhof before. But since Qype doesn't remember, here I go again! It feels like miles away although certain people may argue it's not, it is. But don't let that put you off. Great views of the docks out of the windows whilst you sip a cold astra and watch Hamburg's very own Ricky Kings play. It's all good.

Check out my review of Hafenbahnhof - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Laundrette in Hamburg

Hamburg - Services - Home Services - Dry Cleaners & Laundry - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

This is a great bar to spill your drinks all down yourself in, because you can just get your kit off, bust out a newspaper and wash it all while you have a pint. There are washing machines floor to ceiling, it's not actually just a gimmick, a real multi-use commercial property! Music tends to be pretty good too, and a pretty cool crowd would make it a regular destination of mine if I ever walked further than 5 minutes away from my house...

Check out my review of Laundrette - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Streit's Filmtheater Hamburg in Hamburg

Hamburg - Nightlife - Cinemas

As cinemas go, this is a fairly decent one. Comfy seats, nice bar, shows original versions, not a chain, you can take beer and wine in. The queues can be a bit excessive, but then how would you staff up a cinema? I've not really thought about it to be honest!

Check out my review of Streit's Filmtheater Hamburg - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: The Serpentine in London

London - Arts & Entertainment - Parks

I once bet Toucs 50 quid that he wouldn't swim across the serpentine after around 10 pints. When it came down to it, the accumulated duck shit of many years proved to be too much, and indeed, he did not.

Years later, the subject happened to come up in the beer garden of The White Cross in Richmond. I believe I still owe him that 50 quid.

Check out my review of The Serpentine - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Kensington Gardens in London

London - Arts & Entertainment - Parks

Lovely spot in South Ken where I have whiled away many an afternoon with the cricket set and a load of beers. I used to really enjoy walking down embassy row alongside here fantasising about getting invited to a ferrero rocher party and singing the pavement song.

Check out my review of Kensington Gardens - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Bimont Dam in Aix en Provence

Aix en Provence

Wow! What a fantastic dam. Forget Cezanne and Picasso and the Mont St Victoire, if you're in Provence why not visit the site of some serious civil engineering instead? It was built by Joseph Rigaud between 1946 and 1951 and stores up to 40 million cubic metres of water. It's no 3 gorges, but it's certainly more pretty.

Qype: Kaffeekontor in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Cafes & Coffee Shops - Cafes

Great little cafe on Schanzenstr. The coffee tastes as good as the place looks from the outside, which is to say, very good.

Check out my review of Kaffeekontor - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Boltenhagen in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

Like aLii states, I too would definitely drink here a lot if I lived 2 minutes away. Sadly, as I live around 10 minutes away, there are 100 bars nearer to my house, so I don't! But you should, if you're around the area. Great atmos, nice crowd, cool music and the owner is pretty sound too, as I recall.

Check out my review of Boltenhagen - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Restaurant Kleine Brunnenstraße 1 in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - International - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - German

Sage advice: book if you actually want to eat here! Top class German cuisine in Altona, and the hoards of customers packing this out every night seem to think so too. It's a bit of Hamburg institution, and well worth a look.

Check out my review of Restaurant Kleine Brunnenstraße 1 - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Mr Dam in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Thai

I've no idea how and why I haven't yet managed to review Mr. Dam! But, I fully agree with everyone here, it's bloody awesome. Either for lunch for a paltry €3.50, or for dinner for around €5 you can have great chicken fried rice, thai red curry etc etc. If you're around St. Pauli, be sure to check this out.

Check out my review of Mr Dam - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Kornhauskeller in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - German - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Middle Eastern - Lebanese & Syrian

A great value Syrian (I think!) lunch venue in Aldstadt. Don't expect to get served within 20 minutes and get back to work, but if you want a decent sit down session come Friday, you can't go far wrong.

Check out my review of Kornhauskeller - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Restaurant Brook in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - German - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Seafood - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Gourmet - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - International

At the higher end of the Hamburg restaurant spectrum, and also a little bit off the beaten track, being as it is in Aldstadt, and nobody comes here at night. However, I had a good time here. The service is excellent, and the standard of food very good too. My main gripe would be that it's completely dead midweek, so really not somewhere you'd want to eat, unless of course, you like sitting alone. As we were having a meeting, that worked out pretty well.

Check out my review of Restaurant Brook - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Flughafen Zürich in Zürich

Zuerich - Transportation - Public Transport - Airports

Zürich airport is, for me, everything a decent modern airport should be. Everything, just, works. There are no queues. They have every type of shop you might want, including in fact, a Swiss Army Knife store! The travelators are made of rubber, so you can effortlessly bounce along, and the rail connection to Zürich Hbf is cheap and very fast. One of the world's best.

Check out my review of Flughafen Zürich - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: The Rose and Crown in London

London - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Pubs

A fine pub, with even finer decor inside. A veritable cornucopia of odd items lines every wall and the ceiling, so you won't be bored waiting for a pint. There are, as I recall, around 4 ales on tap, and you can enjoy each of them on a table outside in the sunshine.

Check out my review of The Rose and Crown - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Leon in London

London - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - International

Is Leon good? Well, yes, it is pretty good. The portions are not huge, but then, gluttony is a sin, so you're safe there. You do feel like you've eaten somewhat more healthily than normal after a box o'treats from Leon. My main complaint is their extensive use of the stupid work "slaw" everywhere. So minus one star for that.

Check out my review of Leon - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Gasthaus Wild in Wien

Wien - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Austrian

Did you know, there's no such thing as an off license in Austria? Well I didn't, so was fretting somewhat when my dear friend informed me of this bad news, considering we had a literal mountain of Bergkäse (geddit?) to get through. Fortunately, help was at end, because the Gasthaus Wild will sell you TAKE AWAY WINE! And not only that, you can taste it first, and they'll give you loads of money off because you're going to open it yourself, at home. Isn't that great?!

The restaurant itself also looked very nice, so I will return to sample its delights one day.

Check out my review of Gasthaus Wild - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Görtz 17 in Hamburg

Hamburg - Shopping - Fashion - Shoes

This is, I think, one of the biggest Görtz's, nay, one of the biggest show shops I've ever been in. Sadly, it also has the lowest staff to number of shoes (and therefore customers) ratio too. It's almost impossible to get served here, and so I can't really recommend it. Also, they never ever have your size. I once tried about 6 pairs in vain, so you end up buying shoes you don't really want too!

Check out my review of Görtz 17 - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Wormland / Theo in Hamburg

Hamburg - Shopping - Fashion

Wormland. Land of Worms? A wormery? Actually, a design shopping emporium inside Europa Passage in Hamburg, just for blokes! I've not really seen anything like this in the UK, but then, I don't really like shopping, so that might be why. All your major brands are here, and nothing is discounted very much. It's so cool that the store has a DJ booth. And free expresso.

I have to say, for what it is, it's well done. The customer service is also excellent. I've taken a few things back here and they never quibble, just furnish you with cash, even without the receipt. Worth a look.

Check out my review of Wormland / Theo - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: The Belgrove Hotel in London

London - Hotels & Holidays - Hotels - Hotels & Holidays - Bed & Breakfast

The Belgrove is not luxury accomodation, so don't expect the free soap to be from L'Occitane en Provence, or indeed, to be able to swing a cat in the single rooms. However, for a walk-in 50 quid room, right next to King's cross, that you're only going to spend 5 hours in anyway, it's not bad. A full English in included in the price, but I didn't have time to queue for it. Smelt good though!

Check out my review of The Belgrove Hotel - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Snowboard Schule Primus in Lenzerheide/Lai

Lenzerheide/Lai - Shopping - Bric-a-Brac

My photo is from a bit far away, but you get the idea, it's in a car park! This is the cheaper of the 2 hire shops at Lenzerheide (the other being intersport), and has a decent selection of everything you might possibly need on the slopes.

I rented a board, boots and googles too, which came to CHF47 for half a day. Service is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and they didn't kick up a fuss when I somehow destroyed by bindings. Recommended.

Check out my review of Snowboard Schule Primus - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Ses-Bes in Tallinn

Tallinn - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Eastern European

Kebab for lunch? Yes please! If you're into grilled meat over charcoal, you're not going to go far wrong here. Delicious lamb, beef, pork or mixed on a bed of rice with sauce. Just what the doctor ordered.

Check out my review of Ses-Bes - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Beer House in Tallinn

Tallinn - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Pubs

Cracking brew pub in old town Tallinn! They have around 7 different beers on the menu which are all brewed onsite, and this is probably the closest approximation to decent bitter I've had outside of the UK. Actually, the Frog and Rosbif in Toulouse used to serve a pint of "Aeropostale" which wasn't bad either, but I digress.

Huge wooden tables, waitresses dressed like it's Oktoberfest, and massive pizzas complete the setting. If you're in Tallinn, have a look at this.

Check out my review of Beer House - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: TALLINK SILJA LINE in Espoo

Espoo - Transportation - Public Transport - Ferry Terminals

This is actually the address of the head office in Espoo, but the Tallink Silja line provides the ferry connection between Helsinki South harbour and Tallinn. It's around 35€ to go on the fast ferry (M/S Star or M/S Superstar), and there's free wifi all the way! Other highlights include the bar, and the amusing jukebox that is basically mostly black metal popular in this part of the world. Great stuff.

Check out my review of TALLINK SILJA LINE - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Görtz 17 in Berlin

Berlin - Shopping - Fashion - Shoes

Smallish but quite decent branch of Görtz 17 in Mitte. They sell all major shoe brands along with some of their own stuff, and the staff are generally pretty helpful. I tend to keep going back here because of their amazing returns policy: if anything falls apart within 2 years you get your money back!

Check out my review of Görtz 17 - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Le Beaujolais in London

London - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - French - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Wine Bars

A real hidden gem, as why would you ever expect a really good French bar to be tucked away just by Leicester Square? There is one in Beaujolais though, and what a find. Grab a couple of bar stools, get a bottle of Bourgogne and munch on rillet de oi until you're very drunk. Lovely.

Check out my review of Le Beaujolais - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Mad Jacks in Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - European

Cracking cafe/restaurant in Shrewsbury that's at the gastro end of cusine, but is not a pub. More like a gastro-bar or something really. Well appointed decor, friendly staff, and a delicious lunch menu. I would highly recommend the club sandwich, with which you can a cup of the soup of the day for just one extra solitary pound. The sides of chips were also particularly nice. I think everyone ordered something different and we all loved it. A change from the armory, and indeed, nothing to stop you nipping over there for a sly pint afterwards.

Check out my review of Mad Jacks - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Potatoe a la carte in Hambourg

Hambourg - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants

Amazing, somebody has actually review "Potatoe á la Carte"! This place is sensational. There's a menu of around 30 ingredients, and we're there thinking, hmm, what shall we choose? Turns out you actually get ALL OF THEM! The healthy option, this is not. But if you want a jacket spud with a mountain of sour creme, and every other conceivable extra, get into the Schlemmermarkt by the Rathaus and buy one of these. Fantastic.

Check out my review of Potatoe a la carte - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Benito's hat in London

London - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Mexican

Is it a kebab? Is it a burrito?! I don't really mind cause it's only a fiver and comes wrapped in foil! I don't really need to review Benito's Hat because the huge queue down the road every lunchtime does that for me. A delicious bargin, the only downside of which being that sleep is easily induced in the afternoon.

Check out my review of Benito's hat - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Harms & Schacht in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Cafes & Coffee Shops - Cafes - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - International - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Cocktail Bars - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Austrian

I don't know what Andrew is talking about! He's evidently been away from good honest German fayre for too long, the food was tip top! Lovely weird rolled beef in gravy with a salad, etc etc.

Anyway, food apart, it's on the canal, and would surely be a lovely place to sit outside in summer. For a party of our size, it was somewhat cramped, and they wouldn't let our favourite cocktail waiters do the demo, so I'm taking a star off for that. However, they did let me DJ later on, so I'm putting a star back on for that.

Qype: Ice Bar in Bergün/Bravuogn

Berguen/Bravuogn - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

Oh dear Qype, you don't have a category for "Ice Bars" ?! Actually, the bar wasn't made of ice, yet, as it's not quite cold enough apparently. It certainly felt cold enough at this outdoor oasis of hot alcoholic drinks, bon jovi classics, and vantage to watch people sledging down the main street. That's mainly because it's at 1400m and outside, so you won't miss it when you visit beautiful Bergün!

Check out my review of Ice Bar - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Restaurant Scuntrada in Lenzerheide/Lai

Lenzerheide/Lai - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants

OK, it's not the most rocking place at this time of the season, but if you're skiing at Lenzerheide and fancy a drink, this is your only choice! Which is not to say it's bad, far from it. Cozy, not overly expensive, and some decent rum-based punch and local brews provided the lubrication.

Check out my review of Restaurant Scuntrada - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Hotel-Restaurant Weiss Kreuz in Thusis

Thusis - Hotels & Holidays - Hotels - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Swiss

The Weiss Kreuz (what a popular name in Switzerland!) is a really nice hotel in sleepy Thusis, a beautiful spot from which to explore the surrounding mountains and villages. There's very decent downhill and cross-country skiing within 20 minutes drive, walking, hot geothermal springs, sledging and as much alpine milk hot chocolate as you can drink. The staff are lovely and I've never felt healthier after the breakfast buffet!

Qype: cantina west in Helsinki

Helsinki - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

I could describe this place with one word - rubbish. The weird deep-fried platter was fairly disgusting, and didn't really qualify as a meal in my book. I'm giving it 2 stars only because the staff were really friendly and kept bringing more beer very quickly, which is what was required.

Check out my review of cantina west - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Cabaret- Le Cab in Paris

Paris - Nightlife - Clubs

Upmarket and fairly pretentious Paris club, which you may pay a lot of money to get into. Fortunately, my tab was on somebody else, so I guzzled down as much free champagne and wine as possible, hence this morning's rather dreadful hangover. Decor is modern, stylish, and the whole place is quite red and dark. As this was a developer event, the throngs of models were elsewhere, so a point off for that. Also, I wasn't particularly impressed with the food either, so I wouldn't bother eating here. Perhaps I shall return to try the club one day.

Check out my review of Cabaret- Le Cab - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Adagio City Aparthotel Paris Haussmann Champs Elysées in Paris

Paris - Hotels & Holidays - Hotels

Oh Adagio, it's the little things that make the difference. I don't usually give anywhere 2 stars, because that's the optimistic happy person I am, and indeed, this one started well. I was busy searching for the cheapest place with free wifi in the 8eme, and found this just around the corner from the office. A snip, at "only" €140, compared to everything else. Initially, it did look OK too - big rooms, big beds, even a bath! However, the niggles take it down.

The biggest gripe for me, is that it's around 30 degrees in the room, and there's no way to make it colder. The coldest setting is "sauna". Of course, you could open the window, but Hausmann isn't the quietest of streets, to say the least! Then the fact that the free wifi will only let you make one page view without dying, is also rather frustrating.

On the plus side, the staff are very friendly, and contrary to other reports, they do clean the rooms everyday. I don't really want to stay here again though.

Qype: Le Mecano in Paris

Paris - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants

Cool bar on Oberkampf, where you have a lot of choice, but if you're walking down it's about the first one on the left, and it was raining. Decor is interesting, from the barber's chairs to the huge copper sink in the toilets that looks like it was used for jam making or something, I'll get a photo next time. They have live music some nights, reasonable beers (a nice belgium one on draught), football on a projector, and fluent French speaking English staff. Check it out.

Qype: Hell Hunt in Tallinn

Tallinn - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

Hell Hunt turned out to be more like "Heaven Hunt" as I wandered randomly into a Tallinn bar that sold no less than 10 ENGLISH REAL ALES! Apologies for the caps, but this was quite a find.

The hell theme was apparent throughout the bar, not least in the amusing barbed wire lampshades! It's large, spacious, with a cool crowd, lots of tables, and the right stuff behind the bar.

Check it out!

Check out my review of Hell Hunt - I am filchambers - on Qype

Qype: Hotel Telegraaf in Tallinn

Tallinn - Hotels & Holidays - Hotels

I'd have to say that the Hotel Telegraaf is one of the best, and best value hotels I've ever stayed in. Set in the heart of Tallinn's old town, in the gorgeously appointed old telephone exchange building, I could not fault any part of the stay.

Flawless, efficient check in and out, attentive staff, free wifi all over, a fantastic breakfast included and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in.

Highly recommended.

Qype: ACHAT Hotel Stuttgart in Stuttgart

Stuttgart - Hotels & Holidays - Hotels

Now, I'm going to give the Achat Hotel 4 stars, but that is not to say I would necessarily advise you to stay here - boutique this is not! However, if you want somewhere from which to visit the Porsche Museum, that is clean and comfortable, has free wifi, and costs a paltry €35, then you could do far worse.

Check out my review of ACHAT Hotel Stuttgart - I am filchambers - on Qype
