Qype: Vila Viniteca in Barcelona

Barcelona - Shopping - Food & Drink

Well this is a nice shop! Lovely cheese and wine heaven, shuts at 2030 each night, but if you're winding down after a busy day discussing mobile bits and pieces, a good place to come. You'd think it was just a deli, but you can sit down and the service is excellent. Some of the cheese may floor you.

Very different.

Qype: Olivia Plaza Hotel in Barcelona

Barcelona - Hotels & Holidays - Hotels

Perfectly located on the Place de Catalunya, the Olivia Plaza has a deceptively small frontage which conceals a much bigger hotel inside. It's gloriously modern, so much so it has those bathrooms where the water goes everywhere even if you're really careful, which of course, I always am. The free wifi is also reasonably unreliable, although they do have computers you can use too. But these are small gripes, and I will still give it 5 stars for style.

Qype: King Charles I in London

London - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars

An answer to the age-old problem of "where can I drink in King's Cross?", don't wait in the station for your train, come here instead! It's usually pretty busy, and since it's the best place in the area, it's no surprise. There's a small but reasonable lineup of ales, and I seem to recall a very extensive selection of bar snacks. Pickled egg anyone?

Although not much to look at on the outside, it's very nicely appointed on the interior, and very far from gastro. Lovely.

Qype: Imbiss Habibi in Köln

Koeln - Eating & Drinking - Fastfood & Takeaway - Falafel

Cheap and cheerful kebab shop that's in the centre of all the action come Karneval time! Somehow we managed to blag a table and enjoyed delicious chicken schwama which reminded me of Maroosh in off Gloucester Road in South Ken, although with not quite a much garlic sauce and a bit more salad, if you're familiar with said establishment. For those not on a culinary voyage of discovery around all the world's kebab shops, that's means it's good! Minus one star for charging 0.50c to use the toilet even for patrons, although if you'd seen the state of everyone, you could really understand. Maz of Caspian's solution to this problem (which is all year round in Rusholme) - pretend the toilet is always broken!

Check it out.

Qype: Die Werkstatt in Köln

Koeln - Nightlife - Clubs - Nightlife - Events

Pretty decent club/venue in Ehrenfeld, which for the unfamiliar (like me) is quite a nice district of Cologne. There may have been more than one room, but I can't actually remember - it's got a big bar on the left, as much Kölsch as you can drink, and then looks like a gig venue. As this was Friday night in Karneval, everyone apart from me had fancy dress on, but then, they probably didn't have all their clothes stolen on the Thalys.... ! Well worth checking out. They even played Phoenix!

Fantastic hotel cum guesthouse, look out for the secret 'biscuit tin' under the coffee table!

Qype: Monkey Chews in London

London - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Pubs

Alas, now closed down, but back in the day this was a fantastic pub, if a little out of the way! The bar staff were 2nd to none, but have now moved into the acting profession.
