Qype: BeachCenter Hamburg in Hamburg

Hamburg - Sport - Volleyball - Health & Beauty - Beauty & Wellness - Sauna & Spa - Sport - Swimming

Fantastic venue for beach-related sport in Hamburg, including football, volleyball and swimming. There are around 4 pitches, several bars, BBQs, with great music and DJs. We were there to compete in the annual Hamburg netsoccer clash, where Qype came out on top!

Qype: Restaurant Alara & Cafe in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Turkish

Solid Turkish kebab house with some decent looking chicken shish on offer, and unlike every other place in Altona, not closed by 2230! The shish with rice is somewhat steep at €8.50, otherwise I might give it 4 stars.

Qype: Café Insbeth in Hamburg

Hamburg - Eating & Drinking - Cafes & Coffee Shops - Cafes

Good service on the street, coupled with impressive exterior lighting, and decent prices for the Erdinger Kristall makes it a decent stop. Traffic can be a bit annoying but decent atmos on a Weds!

Qype: Alberta Cross (New York/ USA) in Hamburg

Hamburg - Concerts & Festivals - Alternative & Indie - Concerts & Festivals - Folk - Concerts & Festivals - Pop & Rock

Great gig from Alberta Cross, a half Swedish, half English band that have been around 3 years but are only just getting around to releasing their first album on PS records at the end of September. Just 2 of the guys from the band did an acoustic set with guitar and bass, but apparently they usually rock a lot harder! Well worth a download!

Qype: The Ship in London

London - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars - Pubs - Nightlife - Music Venues

The ship doesn’t look like a RAWK pub from the outside, but when you get inside you can literally find yourself in the middle of Priest Feast. Which is no bad thing! With the full and fine Fuller’s range on tap, a very trad interior, and a cool crowd, what’s not to like?

Qype: The Wrexham, Shropshire & Marylebone Railway Company Limited in London

London

I can’t really get over how much I love traveling on the Wrexham and Shropshire railway. It harks back to a golden age of rail travel, when you weren’t penned into a pendolino, a table with enough space to spread your broadsheet was a given, and breakfast was served on china plates. Fortunately, a few sage railwaymen had a dream, and with the backing of none other than the veritable Deutsche Bahn, have bought 5 class 67 diesels, and leased some original BR Mark III coaches from 1975. This very morning I was paying for standard class, and yet sat in first class luxury, being served my local-sourced full English breakfast and drinking milky tea as we trundled from Shrewsbury to London. The service currently takes a little over 3 hours due to timetabling restrictions (in reality the class 67 is capable of 125mph), and it’s a world away from the horror of the west coast main line. In the evenings, you might want to indulge in a selection of real ales from Oswestry, or perhaps a tasty pork pie!

And what price, this luxury? Well, there are no peak-time fares, in fact you can walk up and buy a ticket on the train, for 20 quid each way. And they’re not receiving any subsidies. Richard Branson, you should come and join me aboard “A Shropshire Lad” someday.

Qype: Inamo in London

London - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Other Asian - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Japanese & Sushi - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Theme Restaurants

“I’ve seen the future, brother, and it’s murder.”

Mixed opinions from the Qypers, but I’d have to go with Chief_Patto’s view, this place really is “top draw”! The interactive projection tables are SO MUCH FUN to use, and the image quality, even at lunchtime in daylight, is fantastic - you really can see what your food is going to look like. The feeling of sneakily ordering another beer without having to bother anyone, and drinking at your own pace is great, and when the bill comes, you can even see who’s had what, ideal for parties of really tight people! Actually, not that ideal, since a bottle of lager is 4 quid, but a nice touch is that when they run out of something, it just disappears from the menu. No more, oh sorry, we haven’t got any left moments - you won’t EVEN KNOW they had it in the first place!

Service was sadly not by T800’s by real people, and they were also frighteningly efficient, our bill arriving literally 10 seconds after we clicked send. You wouldn’t want to eat here all the time, but it’s definitely a taste of things to come. Oh, and the food is excellent.
